Click the Colorado High School Mountain Bike League logo below and follow the directions to register AS A COACH with the League. When on the League Coaching page, scroll down and click on the yellow Coach Registration Tips button and follow the directions on that document for New or Returning Coaches. Please note that coach registration typically opens around March 1. If registration is not open yet, you can still start working on your coach certification requirements (see #3 below).
To complete Coach Registration you will need your credit card for the annual $25 League Coach Registration fee and the following passcodes to register as a coach under your choice of high school:
*If you have a middle school aged child, choose the school that they will eventually attend. If you don't have a child on the team, or they are not and will not be attending any of the above schools, ask Coach Scott which one to select.
After registering as a coach with the Colorado League, you will receive an invitation email from info@ccnbikes.com to complete your background check with Sterling Volunteers. Check your SPAM folder! There is an additional fee of $15 for the background check.
The Colorado League uses Canvas as their Learning Management System that can be accessed through your CCN account. You get there by logging in from the upper right hand corner of the Colorado League Registration Page.
First year coaches and returning Level 1 coaches must complete the following courses through Canvas:
If coach registration isn't open yet for the current year (before March 1), you can go ahead and create an account (or log into your existing account) on the NFHS.org website and take the NFHS courses and save your certificates for upload later once registration opens. The Positive Youth Development course is a program in Canvas and can't be taken until after coach registration.
Once your background check is complete and you've completed the upload in Canvas of NFHS courses and completed the Positive Youth Development quizes, YOU ARE DONE with Level 1! Your requirements will be double checked by the Colorado League and you will receive an email confirming you are a certified Colorado League Level 1 coach!
Level 1 coaches are essentially assistant coaches and can serve as trail ride support (rovers and sweeps). If you complete the requirements for Level 2 or Level 3, you can serve as a group ride leader. HRJC has many different groups at each practice so we rely heavily on Level 2 and 3 coaches to execute the coaching plan for the day set by the Head Coach and lead our ride groups. Please consider taking the additional steps to get to Level 2 or 3 as described in the Colorado League Canvas system. HRJC will reimburse all coaching certification related expenses for Level 2 and 3 coaches each year.
If you have any questions, please reach out to Coach Scott.
